Editorial Independence Principles
These principles govern every page on WinchesterPlays. They are non-negotiable and are reviewed by the editorial team annually.
We accept no payment for editorial placement
Casino rankings on WinchesterPlays are determined solely by our scoring methodology. No casino can pay to appear higher in a ranking or to receive a better editorial score.
Affiliate commissions do not affect ratings
We earn affiliate commissions when users sign up to a casino via our links. This revenue funds the site. It has no influence on the score, ranking position, or editorial content for any casino.
Ratings are updated at least quarterly
Casino conditions change. We review each listing on a rolling quarterly schedule, and we update immediately if we become aware of regulatory action, ownership changes, or materially altered terms.
We publish negative findings
If our review uncovers slow withdrawals, poor support, or unfair terms, that is reflected in the rating and noted clearly in the review copy. We do not remove or soften negative findings.
Scoring Methodology
How We Score Each Casino
Each casino receives a score out of 5 based on six weighted criteria. Scores are recalculated whenever we update a review.
Licensing & Safety
25%We verify every casino against the UKGC public register. We check for any regulatory action, fines, or licence warnings in the preceding 24 months. Unlicensed casinos are never featured.

15%We record real withdrawal times across at least two payment methods: one e-wallet and one bank card. Withdrawal time claims are tested, not taken from the casino's own marketing.

Who Writes Our Reviews
WinchesterPlays reviews are written by a team of UK-based writers with backgrounds in online gaming, consumer finance, and digital journalism. All writers are required to disclose any personal accounts held at reviewed casinos.
Reviews are edited by a senior editor who has not had contact with the commercial team during the review cycle. The senior editor has the authority to override any rating.
We use a structured review template to ensure consistent coverage across all listings. Any variance from the template requires a documented reason.
Corrections Policy
How We Handle Errors
If we identify a factual error in a review, we correct it as quickly as possible and note the correction at the bottom of the affected page with a date. We do not silently edit content.
If a casino's circumstances change materially — for example, a UKGC licence warning, a change of ownership, or a change in payout times — we will update the review within five working days of becoming aware.
